[ARCHIVED] IMPORTANT New Water Restriction Advisory

Residents advised to conserve water now through Wednesday morning due to aftermath of recent storms; water remains safe to drink

WATER CONSERVATION ADVISORY FOR ELMSFORD, GREENBURGH, IRVINGTON, SLEEPY HOLLOW, TARRYTOWN AND GRASSLANDS CAMPUS IN VALHALLA

Residents advised to conserve water now through Wednesday morning due to aftermath of recent storms; water remains safe to drink

For the second time since Friday, residents of Elmsford, Greenburgh, Irvington, Sleepy Hollow, Tarrytown and the Grasslands campus in Valhalla are strongly advised again to restrict their non-essential water use. This latest advisory is expected to remain in effect through Wednesday morning. The water in these communities is safe to drink. There is no need to boil water.

During this brief period, the water supply will be limited because the New York City Department of Environmental Protection will shut down the Catskill Aqueduct again starting at 11 p.m. tonight due to impacts from recent storms. The Catskill Aqueduct is the main source of water to the Irvington Water Department. Residents are asked not to water their lawns, wash cars and to limit other non-essential use of water.

The Westchester County Department of Health also will use the county’s reverse-911 system to call residents in the affected areas directly with this advisory.
