[ARCHIVED] Westchester County - Household Material Recovery Days

At Rye Playland Friday, March 18 and Saturday, March 19, 2011

Household Material Recovery Days will be Friday, March 18, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 19, 201 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Rye Playland. For a complete and detailed list of what to bring and what's not accepted, visit: www.westchestergov.com/HMR or call 813-5425.

Generally, in addition to chemicals and other special wastes found in a typical household, residents can continue to bring their personal papers for shredding and plastic bags for recycling. When bringing unused medications – whether prescription or over the counter -- keep them in their original bottle or container.
Residents can also bring empty barbecue tanks and Freon-containing appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators and dehumidifiers.
Pesticides, cleaning products, tires, computers, TVs, old cell phones and a maximum of 10 tires may be brought in for safe disposal. However, waste from businesses or schools will not be accepted. Paint – whether from residents, businesses or schools – will also not be accepted.
