Due to the unprecedented amount of storm debris left by the February snow storm and the March nor'easter, the Irvington DPW will be temporarily relaxing requirements for yard waste pickup. Specifically, branches will not need to be bundled and other yard waste will not need to be placed in biodegradable bags. The Irvington DPW will not pick up large logs and stumps.
Despite these temporary rule changes, residents are asked to follow the usual yard waste rules if at all possible. There is an enormous amount of debris still to be picked up. Keeping piles neat and branches bundled will allow the crews to expedite their pickups and cover the entire village more efficiently.
Due to budget constraints, overtime has not been approved for debris pickup. Therefore, because debris will only be picked up during regular working hours, it is expected to take approximately 6 weeks to make one pass through the entire village. Crews have begun pickups in the southern section of the village and will be heading north over the next 6 weeks.
Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
