[ARCHIVED] Irvington Historical Society - "What Was the Gilded Age (And Are We Living In A Second One)"

On Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., the Irvington Historical Society will present “What Was The Gilded Age (And Are We Living In A Second One)”, a Zoom presentation by historian and author Professor Edward T. O’Donnell, Chair of the Department of History at the College of the Holy Cross.  Professor O’Donnell will speak about the Gilded Age in America (1870-1900), a period during which the nation experienced astonishing growth in prosperity, population and industry.  It was also, however, a time of urban squalor, political corruption, worker exploitation and an alarming growth in the gap between rich and poor.  Professor O’Donnell will help us understand this first Gilded Age and the issues it raised and how it led into the Progressive Age of the early Twentieth Century.

If you have not done so already, you can register for this talk at https://forms.gle/xhcdLxoGyVCNjh3u6 or at the Irvington Historical Society website: https://www.irvingtonhistoricalsociety.org/

For everyone who has registered, you will receive a Zoom Invitation several days before the event.
