Tuesday’s ballot contains a referendum for Irvington residents to consider. It is a proposal to increase the Service Award paid to retirees of the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corp.
On July 20, 2020, the Board of Trustees voted to increase the monthly service award payment from $20 to $30 for each year of volunteer service. The average cost per year per participant will increase from $850 to $1,290.
For the measure to be effective, it must be approved by Irvington’s voters. If approved, the new benefit would be effective for service credit earned January 1, 2021 and thereafter.
