[ARCHIVED] Armour-Stiner (Octagon) House Designated as Local Landmark

Octagon House

The Armour-Stiner (Octagon) House became the first locally-designated landmark, when the Irvington Board of Trustees voted at their meeting on October 19, 2020. The Octagon House was recognized for its distinctive architectural style and rich history. In many ways, the home is recognized as a symbol of Irvington itself.

The Irvington Local Landmark process was established in 2018 by the Board of Trustees to allow historic or unique properties to be designated as a local landmark. The local landmark process provides a low-cost way for owners to gain additional recognition while enjoying added uses under the Village's zoning code. Those uses include the ability to run guided tours or a museum, for example.

Chapter 144 of the Village Code contains all of the details about the nomination process. To nominate a property for designation, complete a Local Landmark Nomination form and submit it to the Village Clerk/Treasurer by mail at: 85 Main St., Irvington, NY 10533 or e-mail:
