Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps

The members of the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps stand ready to respond to emergency calls, as they have for nearly 60 years.  The COVID-19 crisis has only put additional strain on an already stressed volunteer ambulance system.  At this time of crucial need, community support for IVAC has never been more important. Please visit their web site to learn more and to donate.

Senior Emergency Program

Our Recreation Department continues to assist individuals in our Senior Citizens program with obtaining food, groceries, and other basic necessities by making purchases and deliveries. If yo u know of an Irvington senior that is having trouble obtaining basic necessities and doesn’t have the support of family or friends, please have them contact Supt. of Recreation and Parks Joe Archino by email at jarchino@irvingtonny.gov or phone at 914-760-8657. He will see if there is any way that we can help.

Also, if there are any adults that would like to help with responding to our seniors, please contact Joe Archino. There might not be an immediate need for help, but as needs arise, we may call upon those who have volunteered.

Finally, the senior delivery program is being funded generously by donations. All donations are tax-exempt to the fullest extent of the law. Donate here: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=Y883M8LJQ5RV6&source=url

NYS Executive Orders / Essential Businesses

As required by the Governor’s Executive Orders, the NYS Empire State Development Corp is maintaining the official list of businesses that are considered essential. The list is updated regularly, so check back often, if you’re interested. Incidentally, for those looking to spend a socially-distanced afternoon on the golf course, the list was recently updated to designate golf courses as non-essential. Sorry!

Census Questions

Those that follow the Village’s social media accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) saw our “That Was Easy” campaign earlier today. We highlighted the 9 questions that will be asked when responding to the Census.

If you’re not a social media frequent-flyer, here’s a rundown on the 9 questions:

  1. How many people were living or staying in this house, apartment, or mobile home on April 1, 2020?
  2. Were there any additional people staying here on April 1, 2020, that you did not include in Question 1?
  3. Is this house, apartment, or mobile home (mark ONE box) owned by you or someone in this household with a mortgage or loan?
  4. What is your telephone number?
  5. What is Person 1’s name?
  6. What is Person 1’s sex?
  7. What is Person 1’s age and what is Person 1’s date of birth?
  8. Is Person 1 of Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish origin?
  9. What is Person 1’s race?

Garbage and Recycling Schedule App

As you may have seen earlier today, we reminded residents that today was a normal garbage pickup day. If you had our garbage and recycling app, Recycle Right Westchester, you would have known that already! To look up your sanitation pickup schedule, tailored to your address, or to download the app, visit: https://www.irvingtonny.gov/608/Sanitation-Pickup-Schedule
