State of Emergency
Mayor Brian C. Smith declared a local State of Emergency in response to the ongoing public health crisis related to the COVID-19 virus. The declaration gives Mayor Smith broad powers to take actions necessary to protect the public during this crisis.
Public Works / Sanitation
Sanitation and recycling pickup are continuing on a regular schedule. There other important Public Works announcements.
Public Access to Village Facilities
There is no public access to the I.K. Benjamin Community Center, Senior Citizens Center, O’Hara Nature Center, DPW Offices, Water Department Offices, Irvington Public Library, and Village Hall (Village Administrator, Clerk/Treasurer, Building Inspector, Theater, and Justice Court).
Those having business to do should call or email the appropriate department as follows:
Parks and Playgrounds
All parks remain open. However, the playground located in Matthiessen Park, the playground located in Station Road Park, and the playgrounds and basketball courts located in Scenic Hudson Park will be closed to public use until further notice. Details
Recreation and Senior Programs
All Recreation Department programs and activities until at least March 31st. This includes all senior citizens programs. There is no public access to the I.K. Benjamin Community Center, Senior Center, and O’Hara Nature Center. Details
Building Department
Effective immediately, no building permits will be issued and no inspections will be conducted. Applications will still be accepted and processed.
Library
The Irvington Public Library is closed to the public until further notice. All programs and events are cancelled until further notice. Details
Theater
The Irvington Town Hall Theater is closed to the public until further notice. All programs and events are cancelled through April.
Parking
All alternate side of the street parking regulations, as implemented in 213-10K and 213-10L of the Village Code, are suspended effective March 18, 2020.
Public Meetings
The next meetings of the Planning Board, Zoning Board, and Architectural Review Board are cancelled. Provisions are being made to conduct these meetings, in the future, through video conferencing. As new dates are set, they will be posted to the Village meeting calendar.
The Village Board of Trustees expects to conduct future business meetings through video conferencing. Comments can be made outside of meeting times to Village Administrator Lawrence Schopfer. Every effort will be made to limit agendas to business items necessary for ongoing Village operations.
