News about the Discussion on Potential Rule Changes in the Parks and Roctoberfest 2019
Postponement of the Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee Discussion on Potential Rule Changes in the Parks
I know many of you have been following the potential rules changes for the parks, including a discussion of the possibility of opening Matthiessen Park to non-residents. The Recreation and Parks Advisory Committee (“RPAC”) had a meeting scheduled to hear about these issues scheduled for this coming Wednesday, October 2nd. I have asked RPAC to postpone the meeting for a brief period so the Board of Trustees (“BOT”) can provide them with more guidance on the format of the meeting, to enable us to fully answer their questions, as well as allowing the BOT to continue to work through some issues related to potential rule changes. We will be back with a revised date shortly. I am very confident that we can have a productive and constructive discussion about these possible changes.
Rocktoberfest 2019
I hope to see many of you at Rocktoberfest at Matthiessen Park tomorrow, starting at noon and running until 9pm. We have six great bands and at least ten food trucks to pair with a great selection of beers including an Octoberfest Beer from Germany and a local IPA from Captain Lawrence. Rocktoberfest has become one of my favorite days of the year in Irvington and it helps to fund many Recreation Department programs including another favorite, the fireworks on July 4th.
Have a great weekend,
Brian C. Smith, Mayor
