The Irvington Historical Society with Irvington Public Library celebrates Woman's History month with a performance of "Someone Must Wash the Dishes!" on Sunday, March 17 at 2 p.m.
Professional actress Michele LaRue revives the 1912 short story by Marie Jenney Howe, that satirized arguments mounted against giving women the vote. "Woman suffrage is the reform against nature," declares LaRue, dressed stylishly in period costume. "Ladies, get what you want. Pound pillows. Make a scene. Make home a hell on earth-but do it in a womanly way! That is so much more dignified and refined than walking up to a ballot box and dropping in a piece of paper!"
