The Irvington Woods Committee is pleased to announce that a newly revised map of the Peter Oley Trailway System is now available. Copies of this durable trifold map may be picked up at the Irvington Recreation and Parks offices at 71 Main St. and in the lobby of Village Hall.
The most important improvement to the trail map is that it has added numbered locations to help identify where you are on the trails. Over the summer, with efforts of the Rec Department and volunteers, new directional posts were added to all principal trail intersections. All posts are now numbered, and the new map reflects that numbering.
By referring to the numbers on the map, locating yourself while walking should now be much easier. Discovering less familiar trails or taking a short cut or extending a hike will be easier as well. We hope this will help residents feel more comfortable exploring and enjoying the Irvington Woods.
The map will also soon be available for download on the Irvington Woods website, which is being redesigned (stay tuned for the new www.theirvingtonwoods.org). The website will provide comprehensive information on the Woods, Peter Oley Trails, O'Hara Nature Center and Gardens.
We will also soon releasing an interactive GPS trail map for use with your smartphone.
