The Irvington Historical Society presents a talk by Eric Foner, Pulitzer prize winning author and Columbia University DeWitt Clinton Professor of History, specializing in the Civil War and Reconstruction, slavery, and 19th-century America. Foner will discuss his most recent book, Gateway to Freedom: The Hidden History of the Underground Railroad, in which the Hudson Valley figures. He has served as President of the Organization of American Historians, the American Historical Association, and the Society of American Historians. His book, The Fiery Trial: Abraham Lincoln and American Slavery, won the Pulitzer, Bancroft, and Lincoln prizes for 2011.
