Celebrate Irvington! – Sunday, June 19, 2016

Enjoy a day of family-friendly activities, to “Celebrate Irvington” a small, walkable nationally recognized historic village on the Hudson River. Special Father’s Day focus planned for dads and everyone else, young and old.

The planned events are too numerous to list here, but some highlights: Old-fashioned (and free!) jump-on, jump-off trolley tours of Irvington’s history; guided walks in town, on the waterfront and on The Old Croton Aqueduct State Historic Park; Tours of the (Louis Comfort) Tiffany Reading Room and the historic Irvington Town Hall Theater in the landmark 1902 Village Hall. Visit historic 1853 McVickar House home to the Irvington Historical Society, take photos in period costumes and find treasures at a tag sale. Enjoy fresh & prepared foods at the Irvington Farmers Market, open shops with contests and sidewalk activities on Main Street, street music, waterfront parks with views of the Palisades, casual or up-scale restaurants or take-out for outdoor picnics. For schedule and details, visit:

Dogs on Leashes

I want to remind all dog owners that it is the law that all dogs must be on a leash when in public places. This includes while walking on sidewalks or through the Irvington Woods. I routinely observe dogs being allowed to run free in the Woods. We have had several scary incidents where off-leash dogs have harassed residents or even attacked their leashed dogs. Please adhere to the law.

Residential Revaluation Exemption

As the NYS Legislature wraps up their sessions today, it appears that the Residential Revaluation Exemption bill, the so-called Phase In legislation, has been approved by both houses (A10551-A and S8143). Approval by the Governor is still required. We’ll continue to monitor the situation and I’ll update you as we get more information.

I hope to see you around the Village. Happy Father’s Day!

Please never hesitate to contact me with thoughts and concerns.
