Across the State, local governments are striving to create a healthy and sustainable environment by investing in future-focused clean energy solutions for their community, while at the same time facing unprecedented societal and financial challenges. NYSERDA’s new Clean Energy Communities program provides the resources and funding to help local governments successfully execute and achieve those goals.
The CEC program is a set of High Impact Actions, developed by NYSERDA that encourages local governments to implement specific clean energy actions that save energy costs, create jobs, and improve the environment.
To date, the Village of Irvington has completed a total of 10 High Impact Actions for a total of 5,200 points. That is currently the 3rd most points off all Westchester communities. By completing these actions, a total of $45,000 of grants have been awarded by NYSERDA. Grant money has been used to acquire a new electric vehicle for the Building Department, electric power tools for Parks and DPW, and additional EV charging stations (planned).
NYSERDA maintains an updated Scorecard showing progress by all Clean Energy Communities in New York State.
