Irvington Earns First-Ever Recycling Award

The Village of Irvington earned a Certificate of Achievement from Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino. Specifically, the Irvington DPW was commended for producing comprehensive solid waste and recycling information materials for their residents in 2009.

The Irvington DPW, headed by Superintendent of Public Works Greg Nilsson, provides comprehensive recycling information to residents through its annual sanitation and recycling calendar (PDF) along with various articles sent in the Village's quarterly newsletters (PDF).

In 2009, Irvington recycled 62% of its solid waste which ranked 5th highest out of over 30 Westchester municipalities. This is a statement on how important recycling is to the residents of Irvington and its DPW. Thank you.
