Bond Rating Upgrade
I am pleased to report that the Village’s bond rating has been upgraded by Moody’s Investor Services to Aa1, only one notch below AAA, which is the highest level. Among other factors, the rating agency’s report cited the Village’s stable tax base and strong management. While the savings on our interest expense will be welcomed, it is a significant validation of the hard work of my colleagues on the Village Board, Clerk/Treasurer Brenda Jeselnik, Village Administrator Lawrence Schopfer and all village staff.
Since I have been on the Board of Trustees, responsible and sustainable budgets have been a top priority. It is very rewarding to have a respected outside agency acknowledge this effort.
Next Monday, November 11th, is Veterans Day. As we have done for many years, we come together to honor our Veterans for their dedicated and selfless service to our country. I invite all members of our community to take about 30 minutes out of their day to attend our Veterans Day ceremony. I am also extending a special invitation to all veterans to attend, whether in uniform or not.
The ceremony will be held at 10:45am at the Irvington Veterans Memorial Plaza near the Main Street School. I look forward to seeing you there to honor our veterans.
I wanted to say thank you to the Recreation Department, the Irvington Fire Company, the Department of Public Works and the Police Department for helping to make it another special Halloween in Irvington. Despite a horrendous weather forecast, everything worked out well and turnout was spectacular. I also want to extend my gratitude to all of those that donated money to support the downtown residents’ candy drive. Lastly, I need to extend my thanks and express my awe at the talented bands that rocked the Main Street area on both Halloween and last Friday night. The energy and the joy were contagious. There simply is no better place to be on Halloween than Irvington.
Thanks for reading my email. I hope you enjoy the crisp fall weather.
